Book 'em Keiko: The Joy of Reading
I find that there is no better way to relax than to sit down and read a good book. Books allow you to zone out and go to a far-off place, where adventure abounds and mysteries lie in wait to be uncovered by just the right person. It is a magical place where your troubles go on vacation to the Bahamas, where they sip tequila from a straw, whilst sitting on a banana chair in the shade of a huge beach umbrella. And for that duration you are someone else, experiencing a portion of their life, all dispensed in neat episodic installments. But it isn't escapism as much as the want of new and exciting experiences, at a reasonable cost.
As a result of my reading habits, my communications skills have improved dramatically, and my understanding of the world around me has expanded exponentially. It allows for the expansion of my vocabulary, thus allowing me to make better use of the English language. I am not saying that I have a master's grasp on the language, simply that reading has greatly improved my way of life, mentally and socially.
